The second largest accountancy firm, Deloitte, recently conducted an analysis of the Global LMS Growth and LMS market; anticipating it to grow at an astonishing rate over the next 12 months. Deloitte expects that spending on LMS will grow by 21% or close to $2.5 billion.

The report outlines that Global LMS Growth is growing rapidly in all geographic segments. This is due to the expanded role that online training and management is playing in organisations. In 2013, 15% of training spending went to learning technologies. This is the largest percentage it has been since Deloitte began tracking this metric.

There is an estimate that there are more than 650 LMS providers worldwide. So, now for the first time buyers can look beyond the top providers and go with one that is flexible to their business model. Australia alone has seen 7 new providers enter the market in the last year in response to increased demand.

Innovations in how content is deliverable in this online learning environment is now at the forefront for users. With traditional methods such as classroom management becoming less prominent. And such learning methods as video, open learning and automatic assessments are highly desirable.
